Newsletter - April 2022- Primeurs 2021 and the ‘in bottle’ scores of our ‘impeccable’ 2019s

Hello from Lalande!

Next week it is, of course,  primeurs week, across Bordeaux, and our 2021s (alongside our 20s + 19s) will be available to taste :
  • on Tuesday 26 & Wednesday 27 April from 4pm to 9pm at l’Intercontinental Bordeaux – Le Grand Hôtel : 2-5 place de la Comédie 33000 Bordeaux.
  • from Monday 25 to Thursday 28 April from 9am to 5.30pm non-stop (wine pros only) at la Salle des Dominicains, 14 rue Guadet - 33330 Saint-Emilion.
  • on Tuesday 26 & Wednesday 27 April from 4pm to 9pm at Château Pindefleurs, the Vinaria Tasting organized by our Oenologue conseil, Jouan et Crebassa. To include Le Clos du Caillou and Domaine de l’Hortus!
Drop by if you can and are in the region, contact us by mail if you want to set up an appointment. We are very pleased with the quality of the 21s, it’s a very different vintage to 19 and 20. The wines are quite delicate, but with a wonderful balance, precision, and freshness, quite Burgundian in style.

2019 in bottle reviews:
In other news, all the 19 in bottle scores are now in, and everyone seems to agree, the wines are pretty astounding, see below. We still have quantities available, plus some back vintages, so contact us or your negociant of choice for more info, distribution availabilities & pricing, etc.

'The 2019 is impeccable'

‘.. developed beautifully since I tasted it en primeur..  Dark red/black fruit, mint, spice and floral accents play off the wine's considerable richness nicely. Time in the glass brings out its resonance and overall character. The 2019 is impeccable.’ Antonio Galloni, 91

'Impeccably made wine'

‘Always a charming and impeccably made wine, the 2019 Château Canon Chaigneau sports a dense purple hue as well as a great nose of wild strawberries, darker cherries, leafy herbs, and spring flowers. Soft, supple, and just undeniably delicious, it’s a terrific buy for those looking for a great Bordeaux to drink over the coming decade.’ Jeb Dunnuck, 92.

" Un vin de caractère "

"Bel équilibre du bouquet entre des nuances fruitées et des notes d’élevage. Le vin se distingue par sa finesse et par la vivacité de sa structure. Les tannins sont serrés mais bien intégrés et offrent un excellent support à l’ensemble du palais. Un vin de caractère.. un excellent potentiel de garde." Yves Beck, 92.

'Fresh and spicy on the palate'

‘On the nose you find espresso, leafy herbs, spice, earth and plums. Medium-bodied, fresh and spicy on the palate, with touches of olives that accompany the plums, cherries and chocolate, this will be better if allow it to rest for a year or two.’ Jeff Leve, 92.

'Excellent'
‘..  medium-bodied with supple tannins and fleshier than the Cuve 8A, quite substantial yet focused, with a judicious touch of white pepper on the aftertaste. Excellent.’

Neal Martin, 91.

A bientôt !
