2003 was one of the warmest summers on record, temperatures hitting 40 degrees through July and August. Our clay soils came to our rescue once again, holding in water & insulating the terroir against excessive heat. We harvested at the earliest date on record, starting picking on the 4th of September, ensuring the wine retains a superb mineral freshness as well as a wonderful ripe concentration. A rare treat to drink top, aged fine wine, limited stocks remaining.

  • ’For me the most surprising of these wines. The nose is glorious, and, in a blind tasting, I would imagine myself to be in Pomerol. With super-svelte tannins this is nicely integrated and composed, elegant and stylish, reasonably long on the palate and exceptionally well balanced for an extremely hot and challenging vintage. The choice to pick early and the protection against hydric stress offered by the argilo-calcaire terroir in combination make for an exceptional wine. Highly recommended; indeed, shockingly good.

"A unique wine from a uniquely warm year, that is now integrating its powerful and heady, opulent fruit into its softening tannins. Still a wine of real power, but increasingly a wine of grace and elegance too."

A Unique Terroir

The Néac plateau. One of the finest wines of the appellation, and one of the best value wines in France - medium bodied, not over extracted, complex, suave & extremely drinkable, typically with notes of truffle, black fruits, spice and cacao.
